CHENNAI - C. Govindasamy, representing the Tirupur assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu, Monday announced his decision to join the ruling DMK.

Elected on a Communist Party of India-Marxist ticket, Govindasamy was expelled from the primary membership of the party last month for his decision to felicitate DMK ministers.

Following his expulsion, Govindasamy held a series of meetings with his supporters and the decision to join DMK was taken Sunday.

The legislator said in Tirupur that he and his supporters would join the DMK here Aug 25 in the presence of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Tirupur town is over 350 km from here.
