Cruise trade group spends $529K on 2Q lobbying
WASHINGTON — Cruise Lines International Association spent $529,134 in the second quarter lobbying federal officials on immigration, seaport inspections and other matters, according to a recent disclosure report.
That’s less than the $696,000 the group spent in the first quarter and the $728,216 it spent in last year’s second quarter.
The trade group, which represents cruise companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Carnival Corp., also lobbied the federal government on legislation related to vessel sanitation, crew and passenger health issues, vessel waste and port security, among other topics.
Besides Congress, the group lobbied the Homeland Security and State Departments, Customs and Border Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard, among other agencies in the April through June period.
The group, based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., filed its disclosure report on July 19 with the House clerk’s office.
