LANSING (GaeaTimes.com)- The Republicans from Michigan have ultimately decided their mind and have trusted a political newcomer Rick Snyder with a job to run the race for the post of the Michigan Governor this fall. The post of the Governor is at present held by Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm. Rick Snyder, on Tuesday was able to leave behind Michigan’s Attorney General Mike Cox, a longtime congressman Representative Pete Hoekstra and two others to win the Republican primary election in the state.

Rick Snyder, a Gateway Inc. executive, had kept himself in front of the public as “one tough nerd”. The newcomer promoted himself not as a career politician but as a man who has a totally different approach to the economically troubled state. Having no political background and support at the beginning, Rick Snyder had spent around $6 million of his own money to run the advertisements. The Republican nominee has already become a favorite with the people of the economically ailing state. The economic condition of the state has become a serious issue that is going against the democratic that is holding the seat of the Governor for the last two terms.

The Michigan state has the nation’s second-highest unemployment rate reportedly with 13.2 percent of its population unemployed. Rick Snyder has estimated reportedly that he can help the present situation by creating around 400 Michigan jobs. The GOP nominee also hopes to create 1,200 jobs nationally. Dearborn resident Jim Kwilos said to media sources that he voted for Rick Snyder as he believes that the former computer executive has the power to change the present situation of the state. In November, Rick Snyder will be facing Democratic nominee Virg Bernero to gain the position of the Governor.
