Iran president dismisses UN sanctions as worthless
DUSHANBE, Tajikistan — Iran’s president is dismissing the latest U.N. Security Council resolution imposing tougher sanctions against Iran, saying they are “like a used tissue.”
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says “we do not recognize sanctions.”
His comments come after a U.N. Security Council resolution imposing a fourth round of penalties against Iran over its suspect nuclear program that targeted Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard, ballistic missiles and nuclear-related investments.
He says “from right and from left, they adopt sanctions, but for us they are annoying flies, like a used tissue.”
Ahmadinejad was speaking Wednesday in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where he is on an official visit.
