CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of IT giant Hewlett-Packard has become the first Republican woman in the state of California to get the GOP nomination for the US senate. She will lock horns with Sen. Barbara Boxer, a hardcore Democrat and is likely to give the three-term incumbent her toughest fight ever. Carly Fiorina raced ahead of Chuck DeVore and Tom Campbell and captured the nomination. She stepped up her offensive against Barbara Boxer after bagging the nomination and said that she has said a lot but faltered on achieving what she promised over these years. She has also said that her electoral campaign will be a tireless and fearless one.

Barbara Boxer is not sitting idle either. She said in her reaction against the campaign of Carly Fiorina that the race is all about the ways to improve the economy of the state. She also attacked her opposition to the landmark climate-change legislation of California. The political veterans said all these months that Tom Campbell who supports same-sex marriage and abortion rights would have been a better choice for countering Barbara Boxer. However, Tom Campbell failed to garner adequate support from the conservatives who call the shots in the GOP primary.

Carly Fiorina is the first woman candidate to fight Barbara Boxer. She has got the backing of Sarah Palin as well. The latter wrote on her Facebook page that she is the only candidate who can take on Barbara Boxer. Her wealth went in her favor as she could easily afford TV ads regularly and raced ahead of the other contenders.
