Abu Dhabi, May 4 (IANS/WAM) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Korea have signed an agreement here related to nuclear technology training.
Abdullatif Al Shamsi, director general of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) Abu Dhabi, Mohamed Al Hammadi, chief executive officer of Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and Jun Yeon Byun, vice president, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), signed the agreement Monday for a four-week summer training programme in South Korea.
Under the agreement, ENEC and KEPCO will coordinate a trip of the first batch of IAT students to get on-job training in the South Korean nuclear plants.
The three officials told a press conference the agreement represents the first step of the $20 billion contract signed by the UAE and South Korea for designing and building four civil nuclear power plants for the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy programme.
