NEW DELHI - Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, embroiled in an IPL row, met with senior Congress leader and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee late Wednesday night to discuss the controversy.
Sources said that the meeting is taking place at the residence of Mukherjee, with Defence Minister A.K. Antony also present.
Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi Sunday alleged that Tharoor did not want to reveal the stake of Sunanda Pushkar, a close friend, in Rendezvous Sports World which is part of consortium that won the IPL Kochi franchise.
Tharoor defended himself strongly and denied any wrongdoing. He, in fact, accused Modi of bad faith and trying to move the franchisee from Kerala to some other state.
Sources said that the matter was also discussed at a high level meeting held at the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi earlier in the evening.
The meeting was attended by all the senior ministers and leaders, including Mukherjee, Antony, Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Law Minister Veerappa Moily.
