Gadkari slams Congress on price rise issue, takes dig at PM

GUWAHATI - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government has miserably failed in keeping a check on the price rise issue despite a top economist like Dr. Manmohan Singh occupying the Prime Minister’ post.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Gadkari said the government headed by an economist hasn’t been able to curb inflation.
“Despite having an economist Prime Minister, our economic condition is a failure. It will get less than 33 marks out of 100. Why is inflation so high in our country as compared to what it is in other countries?,” said Gadkari.
Taking a dig at various Congress leaders, he said: “Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath has said that there is food deficiency in the country as the poor are eating ore, it is there on record. Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that keeping the inflation in mind, we will waive off taxes on dog biscuits. It is also there on record.” (ANI)
