BHOPAL - As the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh prepares to take workers from the state to participate in the party’s April 21 agitation against price rise in Delhi, its IT cell has decided to launch an e-campaign against the hike in prices, party sources said Monday.

“The state BJP IT cell has resolved to launch an e-campaign against price rise using social networking sites,” a BJP leader said.

“It was decided at the meeting held Sunday to launch the campaign against price rise on the internet as part of the party’s agitation on the issue,” state BJP IT cell president Anil Sapre said. This was the first time that such a step was being taken to wake the government from its slumber, he added.

Meanwhile, the state unit of the BJP has also decided to book at least 10 trains to take as many workers as possible from Madhya Pradesh to participate in the agitation, party sources said.

This was decided at a meeting of party office-bearers, district presidents and district returning officers at the state BJP office recently.

According to party sources, the party leaders have decided that the trains would have general compartments and in case of its unavailability the second choice would be sleeper coaches. The trains would run from Bhopal, Rewa, Jabalpur, Betul, Ratlam, Indore and certain other places. Furthermore, workers would also reach Delhi by bus from Morena and Bhind.

The BJP has decided all party leaders, including Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and MPs/MLAs will address pubic meetings and get at least one crore signatures from people in Madhya Pradesh. The signatures would be submitted to President Pratibha Patil on the issue of price rise. The signature campaign would be held at all the 50,000 polling booths in the state.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj had told party workers and leaders that the party’s agitation April 21 would be the biggest in history.

“The memorandum to be submitted to the president of India would have five crore signatures from all parts of the country and the party would request the president to intervene to give relief to people from price rise,” she said.
