WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- The Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has on Sunday condemned the alleged act done by a group of protesters of the Tea Party rally held on Saturday, but said that such “isolated incidents” would in no way become a danger for the party.
Michael Steele’s condemnation was clear from his statement as he referred to the protesters who were involved in the incident as “idiots” who do not hesitate doing stupid things. He mentioned that as the incident which has occurred is as the House Minority Leader John Boehner has said “reprehensible”. Michael Steele maintained that the incident is in no way linked to the Republican Party’s image as a whole. Along with Michael Steele, one of the organizers of the Saturday’s Tea Party Rally condemned the incident.
The incident being condemned and criticized occurred during Saturday’s Tea Party rally. A group of protesters harassed some of the black members of the Congress as they were proceeding towards the Capitol Hill for the Procedural vote. Not only did they harass the group but as being alleged by a Democrat member, a protester had spit on a black congressman. They also targeted a black gay lawmaker and hurled abuses at him. It is after such an incident that Michael Steele, along with other Republican members has voiced their grievances against the alleged act.
Michael Steele has however said that this incident is in no way a “reflection of the movement”. He also added that the party does not need any such attack and can continue with the debate peacefully.
