AGRA - The Samjwadi Party Thursday announced it had expelled its candidate for election to the legislative council from Agra-Firozabad after allegations that he had accepted money from the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to lose.

Samajwadi Party leader and party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Akhilesh Yadav said Girish Yadav had been expelled from the party for six years, after allegations that he was to be paid Rs.2 crore for losing the election against the BSP candidate Veeru Suman.

Akhilesh told media persons that Girish Yadav was no longer a candidate of the party, and whether the party would support some other candidate would be decided later.

Girish Yadav was not available for comments.

Meanwhile, there were indications that Ram Sahai Yadav, a dummy candidate fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had been assured support by the SP. The official BJP candidate is Premwati Parmar.
