JALANDHAR - Former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh Monday said that the Congress, when it comes back to power, will take “strict action” against the police officers found guilty of atrocities against the public, including Congress party workers, at the behest of the Akali Dal government.

“We will constitute a high-power committee to look into the matter and strict action will be taken against those police officers involved in these atrocities. We will not spare the guilty,” Singh said in the city, 125 km from Chandigarh.

“Such police officers will be dealt under Section 311 of the Constitution which gives power to dismiss tainted police officers,” he said.

Singh said his party workers have complained to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal but no action was taken against the culprits.
