GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA (GaeaTimes.com)- Guatemala witnessed Taiwan Embassy official Lin-Shyo-shiun who escaped the clutches of an armed youth who took him as a hostage on Monday. Reportedly, the Embassy official was on his way to work while the incident happened. Lin Shyo-shiun happens to be the deputy director of Taiwan’s Technical Liaison Office in Guatemala.

The local cops took hold of the situation and they finally got a hold of the kidnappers and took them under custody while they were in an open stretch at the outskirts of Guatemala. The kidnappers had the deputy director at their gunpoint when a patrolling police car grew suspicious of the happenings inside the car. They followed the car and asked to pull over. After the car stopped, the Guatemala city police witnessed a nervous Lin Shyo-shiun who identified the two kidnappers as his friends. However, the answer didn’t satisfy the police and they asked all of them to step outside the car.

While the cops searched the car, deputy director Lin-Shyo-shiun whispered in the ears of a cop that he was kidnapped by the two men. On the other hand the two kidnappers had left their guns behind in the deputy director’s car and hence had to give up in front of the police. The Guatemala city police arrested the two men immediately and had them locked behind the bars. Following the incident, Taiwan’s ambassador to Guatemala Sun Ta-cheng told the media that Lin Shyo-Shiun is safe and he also appreciated him for his clever tackling of the situation which had saved the whole thing from turning out to be a big disaster.
