JAMMU - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will pay a two-day visit to Jammu from Thursday during which he will inspect a township built to house migrant Kashmiri Pandit families, official sources said Monday.
During his visit, the prime minister will meet various delegations Thursday and will address the convocation of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences, Jammu. He will also visit Jagti satellite township constructed for more than 4,000 Kashmiri Pandit families.
The families, who had migrated from the Valley after the outbreak of separatist violence in 1989 and are currently staying in migrant camps on the outskirts of Jammu, will be shifted to Jagti township by the end of this month.
The prime minister will also get feedback from various sections of people about the situation in the state. He will return to New Delhi Friday evening, the sources said.
It will be the prime minister’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after June 2010.
