HYDERABAD - Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao Monday ruled out his party’s merger with the Congress.

“The question of our merger with Congress or any other party does not arise,” he told a news conference here.

“Ours is not a cinema party,” he remarked, taunting the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) of Telugu actor Chiranjeevi which announced its merger with the Congress Sunday.

KCR, as TRS chief is popularly known, was reacting to senior Congress leader K. Keshava Rao’s statement that after PRP, it was now the turn of the TRS to merge with the ruling party.

“TRS is committed to achieve its twin objectives of formation of a separate Telangana state and rebuilding the state after its formation,” he said.

KCR recently offered to dissolve TRS and merge it with Congress if the demand for separate state is conceded.

He had stated in December last that he was even ready to wash the feet of Congress president Sonia Gandhi to achieve statehood for Telangana.
