South Korea seeks to improve ties with UAE

Abu Dhabi, Feb 5 (IANS/WAM) South Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saturday to discuss ways to bolster relationship between the two countries.
Ahead of his meeting with UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sung-hwan said the two countries are committed to bolster their political, economic and cultural ties.
The visiting minister described the UAE as the biggest economic partner of South Korea in the region and hoped the cooperation would extend further in the areas of nuclear energy, development of human resources and communications and information technology.
The trade volume between South Korea and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) stands at $60 billion annually. GCC is the fourth largest trade partner of South Korea after China, Japan and US, respectively.
