Manmohan meets president, fuels reshuffle speculation

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met President Pratibha Patil Monday evening, fuelling speculation about an imminent reshuffle of the union council of ministers.
The Prime Minister’s Office termed the meeting as routine, but it strengthened speculation that the cabinet reshuffle may take place by the end of the week.
The resignation of A. Raja and Shashi Tharoor, and the shifting of Prithviraj Chavan as the Maharashtra chief minister over the last few months have created vacancies in the council of ministers.
A reconstitution of the Congress Working Committee, the party’s top decision-making body, may also be on the way.
