Investigation agencies must disclose names of Benazir’s killers: Qureshi

BHALWAL - Pakistan’s State Minister for Interior Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi has asked the investigation agencies, which probed former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, to disclose the names of her killers.
“Now, investigation agencies had better disclose names of murderers on their own as they have figured out the suspects who assassinated former PM Benazir Bhutto,” Geo News quoted Qureshi, as saying.
He made the demand while addressing a gathering, which convened to observe Benazir’s death anniversary at Bhalwal in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
He also claimed that both political and non-political anti-Pakistan People’s Party forces were trying to poison brains of loyal activists by alleging that the PPP-led government had completely failed in finding Benazir’s assassins.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the Benazir murder inquiry report was yet to be made public, and that it would be presented soon to PPP’s Central Executive Council.
“The future course of action will be considered only after its presentation to the CEC,” Malik added.
Also, the Pakistan Government set up a joint investigation team (JIT) comprising three officials of the police, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate media reports that the plot to assassinate Benazir had been hatched in a brigadier’s house.
The team, which has been asked present its report in a week, will investigate the veracity of the claim made in the report, examine the authenticity of sources and unravel the characters involved. (ANI)
