NEW DELHI - Thanks to new rules, the Delhi government ministers and bureaucrats will no more be able to splurge on entertaining guests. Even the chief minister will not be able to spend more than Rs.60,000 a month on such expenses, according to an official.

As per a cabinet decision, there will be a cap on the amount ministers and bureaucrats can spend for such purposes every month, the official said.

According to the new rules which will come into effect next month, the Chief Minister’s Office - which did not have any limit on such expenses until now - will have a cap of Rs.60,000 a month, the official said.

For other cabinet ministers, the entertainment expenditure cannot go beyond Rs.50,000 a month. “This decision was taken at a recent cabinet meeting,” an official told IANS.

The order was issued by Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta.
