NEW DELHI - Congress chief Sonia Gandhi Sunday asked party workers in opposition-ruled states to ensure that the aid given by the Congress-ruled central government reaches the people and also propound the UPA government’s flagship schemes.

“Where we are not in power, we give aid without any bhed bhav (difference). Our workers should keep a watch to ensure that the aid reaches the people and they are told about the UPA sarkar.

“And the party should denounce the opposition whenever they try to take the credit (for the aid),” the party chief said at the 83rd Congress plenary at Burari.

Her comments come following reports that in some opposition-ruled states, including Bihar, the state governments took credit for the United Progressive Alliance flagship programmes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme that ensures 100 days employment for one member of a family in rural areas.
