NEW DELHI - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday accused the Congress of being engaged in a cover up operation in Mumbai’s Adarsh Cooperative Housing scandal to shield some key people involved in it.

BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain said that reports of some important papers relating to the scandal missing could be a part of the cover-up operation.

Demanding that the papers relating to the Adarsh scam, the Commonwealth Games scam and the scandal involving the allocation of spectrum to mobile companies should be kept safely, Hussain said that the BJP would frustrate all cover-up attempts by the Congress.

When (Maharashtra) chief minister Ashok Chavan resigned over the issue, the files should have been kept carefully. This is a deliberate attempt by the Congress to cover up the issue and protect the key persons involved in Adarsh housing scam,” the BJP spokesman said.

He said that there were key notings in the Adarsh housing scam files. How can it go missing? he asked.

On the spectrum allocation controversy, the BJP spokesman said that nothing short of a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe would satisfy the opposition.
