NEW DELHI - A meeting of the newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators in Bihar is scheduled to be held in Patna Thursday to elect the leader of the legislature party.
Party leaders Arun Jaitley, Ananth Kumar and Dharmendra Pradhan will attend the meeting as central observers.
The decision to send the three leaders as observers was taken at the BJP parliamentary board meeting which hailed the “unprecedented” victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar.
The meeting noted that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary Rahul Gandhi had failed to influence the electorate and the party lost badly in the constituencies where they campaigned.
Party sources said Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi is likely to be re-elected as leader of the legislative party.
Ananth Kumar is the general secretary in-charge of Bihar while Pradhan is the co-incharge.
