NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court Monday adjourned the hearing in the disproportionate assets case against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati till Feb 15.

The apex court bench of Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy and Justice S.S. Nijjar, adjourning the hearing, said the court would take up the matter for final hearing Feb 15.

The apex court had earlier frowned upon frequent adjournments in the case, saying it suspected complicity between the central government and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo.

Mayawati has maintained that the Central Bureau of Investigation’s case against her - on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income - was politically motivated.
