JAMMU - Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was Wednesday shown a black flag by a member in the audience at a public meeting in Vijaypur town of Jammu and Kashmir.

The protestor waved a black flag at the chief minister when he rose to make a speech in the border town of Vijaypur, about 30 km south-west of Jammu.

The protesor shouted slogans and made it known that his action was against the chief ministers speech in the legislative assembly Oct 6 in which he stated that the state had acceded to India and not merged with it.

Police dragged the man out from the rally, beating him ruthlessly.

The identity of the protestor was yet to be ascertained.

Omar, however, went ahead with his speech. He described the protestors action as frustration of some. He maintained that the majority of the people had understood him and his intentions in the right perspective.
