PATNA - Another senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Bihar resigned from the party core committee Friday night angry over ticket distribution for the polls, hours after state party unit president C.P. Thakur quit the party post after his son was denied a ticket.
Senior BJP leader and state cabinet minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey resigned from the core committee of the party Friday.
A BJP leader close to Choubey told IANS that he was unhappy over ticket distribution and had resigned. “Choubey resigned to express his strong message to the party central leadership,” the BJP leader said.
Choubey, PHED Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led government, had hinted after Thakur’s resignation that he too was unhappy with ticket distribution.
Thakur’s resignation comes a day before top BJP leaders were likely to start their poll campaign in the state.
Bihar will elect a 243-member assembly in staggered polling that begins Oct 21 and ends Nov 20. The results will be known Nov 24.
