NY GOP gov candidate says no proof of Cuomo affair
ALBANY, N.Y. — Carl Paladino, the Republican candidate for New York governor, now says he has no proof Democrat Andrew Cuomo had extramarital affairs a decade ago, a claim he made earlier this week in the already nasty race.
Paladino tells The Buffalo News in Friday’s editions that he never meant to accuse Cuomo when he told a Politico reporter on the media should look into Cuomo’s private life the same way they have his. Paladino has a daughter from an affair during his long marriage, a fact that’s been the subject of news articles.
During a confrontation Wednesday night with a New York Post reporter, he said he had proof of Cuomo affairs and would soon release it.
Paladino tells the News he misspoke and misunderstood that reporter’s question and its context.
