NEW DELHI - Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani said here on Sunday that he never criticised the Commonwealth Games instead he has been wishing all success to it.

While inaugurating an exhibition on cartoons here, Advani said: I have never criticised the Commonwealth Games in Parliament also. My colleagues did though on the matters related to corruption and other Games related issues, they might have said something. But being an Indian, I want the success of the Games.”

Meanwhile, during the cartoon exhibition’s inauguration, he reminiscenced his days as a journalist to state how the reporter’s tasks were cumbersome of typing out reports and editing them unlike a cartoonist who with his witty foresight could sketch the news or trends by merely stroking lines.

He also said that he envied the cartoonist and this comment must have been not only his recollections as a reporter but also being at the receiving end of the cartoonists’ caricatures as a politician!

“I was a journalist, but being a reporter I was envious of cartoonists because reporters had to write and fill a lot of papers to convey their message addressed to the readers but the cartoonist had this advantage of just drawing some lines on a piece of paper and convey his message,” said Advani.

The exhibition at the Press Club of India will remain open for public till October 5. (ANI)
