RANCHI - Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda Sunday denied media reports claiming that his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government was formed at the initiative of a businessman.

“The government has has been formed for the people of the state. There are some people who are giving a twist to the formation of the government,” Munda told reporters here.

There were reports that Ajay Sancheti, a businessman from Nagpur, played a key role in government formation and also had an interest in the state’s mines.

Asked about this, Munda said: “He (Sancheti) is the national executive member of the party. His family has been associated with the party since long.”

Munda reached Ranchi Sunday after spending four days at New Delhi where he met senior BJP leaders L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and others.

When asked about the expansion of cabinet, he said: “The cabinet will be expanded soon.”

Munda became the eighth chief minister of Jharkhand Sep 11 with the support of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and two independent legislators. He proved his majority in the state assembly Sep 14.
