Jackson Jr. talks about Blagojevich trial

CHICAGO — Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. is speaking about potentially damaging details that emerged in ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s recent corruption trial.

Prosecutors said then that a former state official told them Jackson attended a 2008 meeting where a businessman offered to raise $1 million for Blagojevich’s campaign. Prosecutors allege the fundraising would have been in exchange for Blagojevich appointing Jackson to President Barack Obama’s Senate seat.

On Friday, Jackson told WLS Radio’s “The Don Wade and Roma Show” that he was at the meeting but never heard talk about a donations-for-Senate-seat exchange.

Jackson says prosecutors must not have evidence linking him to misdeeds or they’d have charged him. He added: “If I’m a conspirator — bring it on.”
