AMRITSAR - Former Foreign Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha said on Sunday that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh should not adopt a soft line while dealing with China and Pakistan .
Comenting on the recent developments between India and China, Sinha said the Prime Minister should tell the neighbours that India would not ‘tolerate being messed around’.
Yashwant Sinha said that India’s relations with China were very complex. China has been following a policy of “pin-prick” with India and the reply should be given in the same language that China understands.
Talking about relations with Pakitan, Yashwant Sinha said that his party believes that dialogue and continuation of terrorism cannot go together.
Recalling his party’s policy during his term as the Union Foreign Minister in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Sinha said that they started talking with Pakistan in 2004 after being assured by Pakistan that it will not allow its territory to be used by terrorists against India.
He said, “The latest India - Pakistan talks, I would say, are a shameful chapter in the long history of India - Pakistan relationship.”
Yashwant Sinha visited the Jallianwala Bagh and paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.
During his visit to Punjab, Sinha is scheduled to hold meeting with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Chief Parkash Singh Badal and other leaders resolve difference and strengthen cooperation. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
