Harsh ads fly in tight Nevada US Senate race
If you want to know who’s ahead in Nevada’s tight U.S. Senate race, turn on the TV.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Sharron released blistering TV ads attacking each other Thursday that illustrate the stakes in their dead-heat race.
Angle’s 30-second spot shows Reid embracing President Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while a narrator blames the Democrats for Wall Street bailouts, double-digit unemployment and Washington’s record deficit.
In Reid’s spot, a drum pounds in the background as a narrator says Angle wants impregnated rape victims to be forced to carry the baby, alludes to armed action against the government and thinks inmates should get massages under a Scientology program. It calls Angle “just too extreme.”
