Nissan spent $870K on 2Q lobbying
WASHINGTON — Automaker Nissan’s North American division spent $870,000 lobbying Congress and the federal government during the second quarter on a range of issues from vehicle safety to financial reform.
That was more than the $850,000 that the division of the Japanese company Nissan Motor Co. spent on lobbying during the year-ago quarter, according to disclosure forms filed July 20 with the House clerk’s office.
Nissan spent $900,000 on lobbying in the 2010 first quarter.
Among the issues the company listed were greenhouse gas reduction proposals, distracted driving bills and legislation meant to reform the financial system.
The company, which expects to release the battery-powered Nissan Leaf later this year in the U.S. market, also lobbied on electric vehicle tax credits.
