President to visit Tripura, Mizoram next month

AGARTALA/AIZAWL - President Pratibha Patil will visit Mizoram and Tripura next month to attend the convocations of universities of the two northeastern states, officials said Saturday.
“The president would arrive in Aizawl Sep 23 to attend the sixth convocation of the Mizoram University as chief guest next day,” a Mizoram government official told reporters.
According to the official, during her two day stay in Aizawl, Patil would also inaugurate the new state central library and attend a civic reception at Raj Bhavan.
From Aizawl, Patil would come to Tripura’s capital Agartala Sep 24 and attend the eighth convocation of the Tripura university next day.
“The president’s visit to the university would help the educational institution develop various curriculum and meet the deficiencies in different segments,” university vice-chancellor Arunoday Saha told IANS.
The Tripura University, which turned into a central university in July 2007, was set up in 1987.
Preparations for the president’s visit are on in Tripura and Mizoram.
