BANKURA - Maoists have killed a Trinamool Congress (TMC) party leader in Simlapal village in West Bengal’s Bankura District.

TMC leader Samir Pal was killed on Saturday night and the body was found in a pond on Sunday morning.

According to villagers, a group of Maoists had kidnapped Pal from his house, and took away all the belongings from his house.

“They came in great strength and literally frightened the elderly ladies and other sisters. They were heavily armed with explosions and other weapons. They took away all the belongings worth Rs. 20,000,” said Snehesh Mukherjee, another TMC leader.

Some posters were also found in which Maoists took responsibility of the murder, and described Pal as a police informer.

Police have launched an investigation in the case. (ANI)
