NEW DELHI - Hibi Eden, the chief of Congress’ student wing, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) was injured in a road accident near Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore city Friday, party leaders said.

Eden, 27, who was appointed as NSUI president by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, suffered shoulder injuries after his car collided with a van, 25 km from Coimbatore, the leaders said.

Eden, son of former Congress MP from Kerala, George Eden, was going from Coimbatore to Avinashi in neighbouring Tirupur district when the accident occurred.

“He is admitted to Coimbatore K.G. Hospital,” said Eden’s friend and Delhi-based Youth Congress leader Mathew Kuzhalanadan, adding that Eden’s condition is stable.
