RAE BARELI - Congress president Sonia Gandhi rounded off a three-day tour of her constituency Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh hearing public grievances for nearly four hours Wednesday.
“Soniaji gave a patient hearing to the residents of her parliamentary constituency on several issues related to generating employment, civic problems, poor implementation of central government’s schemes and welfare projects,” Akhilesh Pratap Singh, party spokesperson in the state, told reporters in Rae Bareli, some 80 km from Lucknow.
“Soniaji met people one by one and assured action on their complaints as early as possible,” he added.
Gandhi started meeting residents of her constituency from 9 a.m. at the guest house of the Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) in Doorbhash Nagar in Rae Bareli.
“For nearly four hours, she patiently heard the grievances of the people, who had started queuing up in front of the guest house since early morning,” said Singh.
“Those who were not fortunate enough to meet Soniaji, were asked to submit their complaints to party officials, who were instructed to take necessary action for solving the problems,” he added.
After meeting people, Gandhi left for Delhi, he said.
