Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 13 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Mayawati on Thursday accused the Central Government of adopting a ’step-motherly’ attitude towards her state.

Mayawati slammed the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at a press conference here today held to commemorate three years of her party’s regime in the state.

“The UPA government at the Centre has adopted a step motherly and unfair attitude in its dealings with the government of Uttar Pradesh and its people,” said Mayawati.

She also criticized other parties that have governed the state in the past, asserting that only BSP had shown ‘visible action towards the welfare of the people.’

“In the past three years, the Central Government has not released funds to the tune of Rs 17,000 crore to our government on time, due to which developmental work in the state has been greatly affected. Many welfare plans for the people were hence either scrapped or could not be completed on time,” said Mayawati.

Mayawati released two books on the occasion titled ‘Kendriya Sahaytya Ka Kadva Sach- Uttar Pradesh Ki Upeksha’ (Bitter truth of federal aid-Neglect of Uttar Pradesh) and ‘Uttar Pradesh Ki BSP Sarkar Ki Jan Astha Aevam Vishwas Ke Teen Varsh’ (Three years of BSP rule in Uttar Pradesh with people’s support and faith).
