Up to 25 exposed to hazardous liquid at Utah base
HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Officials say as many as 25 people have been exposed to a hazardous chemical at Utah’s Hill Air Force Base and are complaining of respiratory problems.
Davis County sheriff’s Lt. Brad Wilcox tells KSTU-Fox 13 that authorities believe the substance, hydrazine, is commonly used in alternative fuels for F-16s.
Wilcox says authorities think people on base may have been exposed because of a spill of the substance.
Wilcox says those who were exposed could be civilians or military personnel. He says he doesn’t know whether anyone has been transported to hospitals.
Messages left for Hill Air Force Base were not immediately returned Friday.
