MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The tapping of the phone of Nira Radia has come under considerable fire, with even questions about it being raised in the Parliament. On Wednesday, questions about it heated up both the Houses, as the Opposition demanded to know the measures taken over the outcome of the investigation conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation. However, the Central Bureau of Investigation remained tight lipped about their move, although they asserted that they had not tapped the phones of the other eminent professionals, politicians and businessmen who had been allegedly involved in the scam. According to reports, Nira Radia’s phone had been tapped as she had been allegedly involved in manipulating the auction of the 2G, back in 2008.

A number of major dailies brought about the allegation that the phones of the many influential personalities of the country were being tapped by the Central Bureau of Investigation, along with the Income Tax Department. However, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has claimed that it does not have records of conversations taking place between Nira Radia, a PR lobbyist and any other businessman. The board further clarifies that the Income Tax Department, as a rule, does not tap the telephonic conversations of individuals, unless it is a case of some serious tax fraud or tax evasion, and that even in those cases, the procedures are strictly monitored and completely authorized.

However, the reports that came into light after the revelation of the news that the phone of Nira Radia had been tapped caused a major uproar in the political scenario of the country. Heated discussions kept disrupting the two Houses on Wednesday, forcing the government to agree to discussing the mater after the much awaited Finance Bill has been passed.
