Shashi Tharoor Releases Statement

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Union Finance Minister, Shashi Tharoor, is mired in controversy yet again, this time regarding the stakes in the Kochi IPL team. It has been reported by Lalit Modi that he had been asked by the Minister not to raise any questions regarding the details of the stakeholders in the team. However, Shashi Tharoor has tried to clarify his position in the whole affair by releasing a statement, in which he has clearly mentioned that his comments to Lalit Modi has been misinterpreted. However, Lalit Modi, on the other hand, has disclosed the names of some of the stakeholders.
He clarifies in the statement that he had been approached by the consortium, headed by Rendezvous, to help them in their bid to set up a team for the IPL. He claims that he had not been able to divulge the details of the stakeholders as he himself had not been acquainted with many of them, although he is in personal terms with a number of the others. In fact, one of the shareholders in Sunanda Pushkar, who has been spotted to be introducing Shashi Tharoor as her fiance.
Shashi Tharoor has also brought certain allegation against Lalit Modi in his statements, claiming that initially, he had presented himself as a ‘trusted friend,” but that later on, the success of Rendezvous in their bid to set up the Kochi team, turned the tables. He further claimed that the reaction of Lalit Modi only makes it clear that he wanted the franchise to go somewhere else, and that the allegations brought by him only come across as an attempt to defame the team.
