SINGAPORE (GaeaTimes.com)- 300 Filipinos in Singapore have cast their vote by the automatic voting system which employs PCO (Precinct Count Optical Scan Machine) technique. As a matter of fact, the voting process has speed up with the use of Precinct Count Optical Scan Machines which made the whole thing happen only in five minutes. Every vote that was cast in Singapore had the voter shading the oval shaped space alongside the name of his favorite candidate.
Reportedly, Hongkong along with Singapore are the only two regions where the automatic polling system has been introduced which had gained effect from April 10. This is a much better process as compared to the other regions where the Filipinos have to cast their votes by filling in the ballot papers and mailing them. The first time voters in Singapore were excited about the new voting system and they hugely appreciated the initiative which has been taken to ease the system of voting at the Philippines Embassy.
In the wake of the voting, all party volunteers have been advised to refrain from any sort of voting campaigns in the streets of Singapore. Authorities had stated that anyone found breaching the rule, shall be immediately taken into custody. Singapore Consul General Neal Imperial reports of 300 voters to have cast their vote yesterday while on the very first day the number of voters in Singapore was calculated to be 200. Singapore on the whole has 31,000 Filipinos who were to cast their votes in this election. However, the embassy is of the opinion that more and more number of voters are to appear before May 10 which is the deadline for all voters to send in their ballots for the election.
