Maoists kill two Trinamool Congress workers in West Bengal

JHARGRAM - Maoists shot dead two Trinamool Congress workers at Bandhghora village in West Bengal’s West Midnapore District on Saturday. ccording to police, rebels chopped the limbs of Paban Mahato (38) and Kaushik Dutta (35).

Both victims were casual workers with State Electricity Department at Manikpara in Jhargram.

Maoists also fired 11 rounds at them from a close range.

Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Trinamool Congress leader Sisir Adhikari claimed that Mahato and Dutta were his party workers.

District Magistrate Narayan Swarup Nigam said that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

“They were missing since yesterday afternoon when they went to distribute electric bills to households in Rasua village. An inquiry is on,” Nigam said.

Police have recovered Maoist posters from the spot, which claimed Dutta and Mahato were police informers. (ANI)
