AMBALA - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana Thursday threatened to conduct a mock session if the winter session of the legislative assembly is not held within 15 days.

“Despite repeated appeals, Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government is not calling the winter session. It is a deliberate attempt to escape our queries,” BJP legislator from Ambala Cantonment Anil Vij told IANS here.

“Actually, they do not want to face us because they are afraid that we will highlight their failures before the public,” he said.

“The Congress is trying to suppress democracy in the state by ignoring the rights of elected representatives. We have made many promises to the masses and we have to take their voice and demands to the Vidhan Sabha, but the Congress is not allowing us to do so,” he said.

Vij gave the state government 15 days to call the assembly winter session, failing which he threatened to conduct a mock session of the house with the help of other parties.

“We are talking to other political parties of the state and most of them are supporting us. If Congress does not call a winter session in the next 15 days, we will organise a mock session right outside the Vidhan Sabha,” Vij said.

“We cannot work like this. We have many problems like inflation, law and order situation, and unemployment to discuss in the Vidhan Sabha. We would invite all 90 members to the mock session. If anybody fails to turn up, we will place his effigy on his seat and continue with our proceedings,” he said.
