SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)-Harry Reid has been apologizing for the ‘no negro dialect’ comment he made on the President when he saw his political future could be at stake. Harry Reid had made racist comments regarding The US President Barack Obama’s skin color. Harry Reid is supposed to have quoted (as published in John Heliemann and Mark Halperin’s book-Game Change) “that America is ready for a black president-particularly one like Obama who is light-skinned and lacks Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one”.
Harry Reid’s apology for the ‘No Negro Dialect’ comment may or may not help him to salvage his political future, which is currently at stake. It was only hours ago when we had reported, how Harry Reid’s racist comments could lead to a fate similar to that of Trent Lott’s. Looks like, the senator had the same ideas when he went on to admit that a better choice of words were expected from him. He also said, that he had apologized to the President himself and he also said that he would- “continue to do my work for the African-America community”.
The ‘No Negro Dialect’ comment passed by Harry Reid has been taken as a bad signal for his political future, and his party members have started to take as many steps as possible to salvage his position, or whats remained of it. The republicans have reportedly asked him to step aside, to which the senator said, that he had “a lot of work to do” and that he will “continue to do the work for his country and for Nevada”.
