Uma Bharti meets Malegaon blast accused in Nasik
By ANITuesday, December 22, 2009
NASIK - Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and chief of Bhartiya Janshakti Party, Uma Bharti met Sadhvi Pradnya Singh, the accused in Malegaon blast case at a hospital in Nashik and enquired about her health.
After the meeting Uma Bharti said she would launch a nation-wide awareness campaign for her release, currently undergoing traditional treatment.
“I came to meet her and we would carry out a nation-wide awareness campaign for her release. We will highlight discrimination against Hindus and an attempt being made to term them as militants before the people,” she added.
Pradnya Singh was arrested by the Mumbai’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and charged under a stringent law for her alleged role in the September 29, 2008 blast in Malegaon, which had killed six persons and injured 70 others.
The probe into the Malegaon blasts turned sensational, as it was probably the first terrorist attack blamed on Hindu fundamentalists. (ANI)
