TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Former Cherokee Nation Chief Wilma Mankiller, one of the few women to ever lead a major tribe, matched strength with a humbleness that made her approachable, the nation's current chief said Saturday.

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Hundreds of mourners are traveling to Tahlequah (TAL'-ih-kwah) this morning to pay tribute to former Cherokee Nation Chief Wilma Mankiller.

OKLAHOMA CITY - Former Cherokee Nation Chief Wilma Mankiller, one of the nation's most visible American Indian leaders and one of the few women to lead a major tribe, died Tuesday after suffering from cancer and other health problems.
