JAMMU - Lawmakers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and Jammu State Morcha boycotted Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra’s address in the state assembly on Monday.
They were protesting against the state government’s “anti-national act” of stopping BJP leaders from hoisting the national flag at Lal Chowk and preventing leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitely from entering the city on January 26.
“We are here to protest strongly against the insult to National flag, shabby treatment meted out to the leaders of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley by Omar Government by keeping them hostage and not allowing them to address public rally in Jammu against their constitutional and democratic rights,” BJP Legislative party leader Chaman Lal Gupta said.
His party MLAs who raised slogans against the Government soon joined him and the BJP members then staged a walkout.
The budget session of Jammu and Kashmir began today. The Budget will be presented on March 7. (ANI)
