JAMMU - People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti hailed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s statement favouring an effective dialogue process with Pakistan.

Mehbooba Mufti said, “The statement made by the Prime Minister that peace process and dialogue process is necessary, it’s a nice beginning because the earlier peace talks seemed not more than photographic sessions.”

“Both the sides maintained their own stand. There was no certain breakthrough. I was quite disappointed with it. But Prime Minister’s statement seems like a ray of hope,” she added.

The first official talks between India and Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks ended on February 25 with the wordings, ‘keep in touch’ giving indications that relationship between the two Asian neighbours continues to remain frosty.

Neither side declared there would another round of talks. Incidentally, the Prime Ministers of both countries will meet at the SAARC summit in Bhutan in April. (ANI)
