COLOMBO - Sri Lanka has denied access to three Indian politicians who arrived here to take part in the funeral of the slain Tamil Tigers chief’s mother.

The unnamed politicians landed at Sri Lanka’s international airport at Katunayake, near Colombo, but were denied entry, Xinhua reported.

The funeral of Parvathi Velupillai, who passed away Sunday after ailing for sometime, is to be held in the northern Jaffna peninsula.

Velupillai Prabhakaran, the youngest of four children of Parvathi, was the founder leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which led a separatist campaign for over a quarter century.

Prabhakaran was killed in a military crackdown in May 2009. Almost all his senior aides as well as his wife were also killed.
