ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has directed that only “authorised ministers” should speak about the issue of double murder-accused US official Raymond Davis, as the matter remains sub judice.
Gilani made these comments while addressing the first session of the newly formed federal cabinet, the Daily Times reports.
He said that his government had always followed a policy of reconciliation in the larger interest of the country.
“But I would make it clear that it should not be considered our weakness,” he added.
Gilani also said that the doors of the cabinet were open to anyone who believed in Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) policy and discipline.
He said that his government, during its remaining tenure, would direct its energies towards addressing issues that would have a direct bearing on the common man’s life.
“The entire nation will be watching our performance with hope and expectancy. I have always believed that holding of an office is a sacred trust which should be guarded at all costs,” Gilani added.
The new cabinet reviewed the implementation status of the decisions taken by its predecessor. Out of 19 agenda items, it took up some and deferred others until its next meeting. It also expressed its satisfaction over the ongoing dialogue with the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N). (ANI)
